Although Robert Scheer has a long and extensive career as a writer, and his interest in food extends deep in time to the middle of the last century, he is new to the business of food writing.
As a travel writer, his articles have been published in more than a dozen newspapers and magazines in the USA and Canada, and his publishing and editing credits include two magazines and numerous websites. He has a B.A. in Communication Arts, and worked for 20 years in television and radio broadcasting.
His older sister, a professional food journalist, home economist, author of numerous cookbooks (Cynthia Scheer) credits their mutual respect for interesting dining to their mother, who was a skilled and imaginative home chef.
Robert’s interest in vegetarian meals, and plant-based diets is a more recent development, greatly influenced by his becoming a part of the house rabbit community. He has been “dad” to six rescued rabbits, and is a regular volunteer with his local rabbit rescue society.
He lives in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and should not be confused with the Robert Scheer who writes about the political scene in the USA, and is famous for having interviewed President Jimmy Carter for Playboy magazine.
